About us

The Ketton Scandi Dance is run on a non-profit basis by volunteers. Our aim is to promote traditional Scandinavian music and dance in the UK. We do so by running social dances in Ketton and the surrounding villages (East Midlands, near Stamford, off the A1).

At all of our dances there is an emphasis on including new people, and having fun. Most evenings start with introductory workshops that help people get on the dance-floor quickly. We also offer more thorough afternoon dance workshops in trickier dances. For really thorough workshops by trained Scandinavian teachers, look no further than Scandimoot Festival, in the Yorkshire Dales. The dance and music courses are always top quality.

We don't typically have paid performers or teachers, but occasionally attract such wonderful musicians as Vicky Swan and Jonny Dyer, Rowan Rheingans, Carol Turner, and Cat Dowle. We are also lucky enough to have Ella Sprung leading our regular musicians.

Dance tutors have included Pat Lindop, J²ohn Stewart, Kate Lackenby, and myself, Michael Cade-Stewart.
