Scandi Social Dance - April 14 2012 - dance and tune workshops
Fantastic evening of Scandinavian music and dance coming up! Dance, play, or soak up the wonderful atmosphere.
Beautiful live music on nyckelharpa, fiddle, accordion, concertina and more.
Function room of the Northwick Arms Pub, High Street, Ketton, Near Stamford, PE9 3TA.
AFTERNOON DANCE WORKSHOP: in gorgeous Swedish Boda polska, led by Pat Lindop and Michael Cade-Stewart. Arguably the best of these kind of dances, it has a wonderful flowing feel. Small class, no partner needed. This will be held at a different location in Ketton -- with limited numbers -- so email ketton.scandi@gmail.com to book a place soon! 2:15--4:30. £5 / £3 conc.
EVENING SOCIAL DANCE: to live music. Starting with a FREE Tune Workshop from 7:45, followed by introductory dance workshops at 8:20, and then a social dance into the night: vals, polska, polka, shottis, slängpolska, pols, and many more. No experience or partner necessary. Suggested donation: £5 / £3 (core musicians free).
Why not make a day of it, and go for a meal at the pub before the evening dance? Great food cooked on the premises, and lovely wines. Good walks round the village, too, and a Scandi music session is very likely to start at 7ish.
